Cheers

CHEERS is a celebration and deconstruction of cheering as an unpredictable force. Kristin Helgebostad was a cheerleader in her teens, and with CHEERS she is sharing her roots with a group of wonderful artists. The performers conjure up energies that strengthen, weaken and transform a fragile, but loving collective. Their throws can be small and careful, their cheers can be whispered or hissed, as long as they instigate action. The ever-changing collective are transforming the chants, pyramids and energies known as cheerleading, while they investigate what cheering is and can be.

Cheers premiered at Dansens Hus, Oslo in autumn 2018. It has also been performed at Heddadagene in Oslo in 2019, Palais de Tokyo in Paris at he DO DISTURB festival in 2019, Gøteborg danse och teaterfestival in 2021, ICE HOT Nordic Dance Platform in Helsinki in 2022. Cheers was selected for Aerowaves in 2021 and won the NATT&DAG Oslo Prize in 2019 for best stage performance.
